MECCAward - Process overview

Phase 1 – engage and qualify 

• Decision to engage or not (yet) into this process.
• Prepare and discuss internally a first version of your project plan and an estimate of the associated costs and benefits.
• The creation of the “Qualification File” which consists of “Key Information” and “Key results”
• MECCAward carries out the qualification process
• When accepted pre-site visit submission documents are created:

             - 75 page narrative document or

             - Qualification and Enabler map

During this phase, expect to already be in contact with the Assessment Team Leader. He/she will introduce him/herself, and possibly ask you to provide additional information to complement or clarify some aspects of the submission document.

Phase 2 – prepare for site visit

             A half day face-to-face meeting with the Assessor team in order to:

• establish a positive spirit of cooperation and set the expectations for the site visit
• plan to provide the specific information that the team request to have available when they arrive on site. With an Enabler map submission this may require significant preparation and possible translation of key materials referred to in the enabler map
• check that the team’s understanding of your organisation and its key information is correct
• This results in a period of ongoing interactions in order to create together the best possible plan for the site visit.

Phase 3 – site visit

• During the site visit employees at all levels in your organisation will be interacting with the Assessors.
• Interviews, focus groups, presentations, walkabouts
• The site visit typically starts with a opening meeting between the Assessment Team and your Senior Management Team
• Mid week course correction will be typical
• The site visit is carried out in a very open and constructive atmosphere. It is the moment of truth where you create impressions for the Assessors and supply them with tangible evidence together with getting feel of the organisations culture of excellence.
• Some first high level impressions are then exchanged at the end of the site visit during the closing meeting.
• After the end of the site visit the team uses the MECCAward assessment criteria to come to a consensus view and an agreed analysis of your organisation.

Award process phase 4 – feedback

After the site visit the Assessor team finishes the written feedback report and make their recommendations for the Jury.

Press release short listing the Finalists. Only this information is communicated to your organisation and the final recognition level is kept secret and revealed only during the Award Ceremony .
Written feedback report delivered.
A face-to-face feedback session with the Assessment Team Leader (mandatory for 2011)The key objective of this session is the mutual understanding of the key remarks and conclusions from the Assessors

 

MECCA Excellence Levels:
Different Levels of MECCAward Excellence distinguish companies according to their achievements in excellence and demonstrate that to what extent the companies are successful to achieve exellency. Excellence levels, according to records ratified by experts committee at the beginning of each period are as follows:

MECCAward winners that include three levels listed below:

A. GOLDEN prize: the winner is chosen among the candidates of each level. Candidates, who achieve the highest score, are chosen as the role model at the level of Islamic countries and will receive The Golden award.

B. SILVER prize: between the candidates at each level, those known as the role model and achieve a higher score than set point will receive the prize.

C. BRONZE prize: Applicants who have applied the organizational model completely and have obtained an incessant improvement in a specific period are entitled as the winner of Bronze prize.
